يسمى أيضا: self citation
في الدراسات الببليومترية   bibliometrics ،  استشهاد مرجعي في وثيقة يكون فيه الشخص هو مؤلف العمل المستشهد به (نقيض المصطلح: allocitation). ويفضل الكثيرون استخدام المصطلح   autocitation لأن نقيضه هو allocitation،  أما  self-citation،  فيذكر المؤلفون  van der Heij, D. G., van der Burg, J., Cressie, I. R. C., and Wedel  الذين قدموا هذا المصطلح عام  1990  في العمل أدناه، أنهم على علم بأن   Garfield  وآخرون قد استخدموا المصطلح  self-citation  ولكنهم لا يعرفون لهذا المصطلح نقيضا. وعلى ذلك فالمصطلح   autocitation  يكون أفضل من  self-citation.
